Friday, Fellows gathered in the farmhouse Castrabecco where we learned all about one of the favorite painting methods of the Renaissance... egg tempera. Egg tempera is a permanent, fast-drying painting medium that consists of mixing powdered color pigments with the yolk of a fresh chicken's egg. Some notable works that were painted using this egg tempera technique include Botticelli's "The Birth of Venus" and Piero della Francesca's "The Flagellation of Christ."
