Art historians Peggy Kuntz and Tod Marder (Director's Guests, 2012) led the group on an excursion to Orvieto. After discussing the complex iconography of Lorenzo Maitani's facade of the duomo, the group went inside the church to examine the Chapel of San Brizio with frescoes by Luca Signorelli. The introduction to Signorelli was a good complement to the group's trip to Perugia, where the highlight of the trip was the National Gallery's current Luca Signorelli exhibition.
