Poet Fanny Hall (CRF 2009) has sent us the following powerful and provocative essay about her time at Civitella Ranieri. The music and images were produced by her son, and the narration is her own.
Drawing on her experiences in Umbria, Fanny describes her surroundings and meditations upon those surroundings. She contemplates the natural world, the supernatural world, St. Francis of Assisi, and the physical and spiritual manifestations of time spent in our medieval castle. From scorpions to cloud formations, readings and reflections, this essay provides a profound look at the solitudinal work of a writer abroad.
