Assisi
On Tuesday, Program Assistant Ilaria Locchi and Intern Angelica Haas led some Fellows on a tour of Assisi. After learning about the life and history of Saint Francis, we saw the Basilica di San Francesco, and the marvelous frescoes by Giotto and Cimabue housed inside.
After lunch, we stopped at the Santuario della Madonna dei Bagni in Casalina to see the ceramic tiles that cover its walls; gifts of thanks to the Madonna for her miracles.

Afternoon in Arezzo
Yesterday, Civitella Ranieri Executive Director, Dana Prescott, led Fellows on a journey through Arezzo in Tuscany. Some stops were at the home of Guido Monaco, and at the Chiesa Santa Maria della Pieve; especially interesting because of its incredibly asymentrical architecture and design.
The main attraction was Piero della Francesca's Story of the True Cross fresco in the Basilica di San Francesco.
