Announcing Interns for 2016 Season

Civitella is pleased to welcome Elinor Kirchwey and Angelica Haas as our 2016 Interns. Interns at Civitella are a treasured and integral part of our community and daily life.  They provide assistance with library functions, the meal program, excursions, presentations, and exhibitions at the Castle, working with both Executive Director Dana Prescott and Program Coordinator Diego Mencaroni on a variety of special projects built around individual interests, experience, goals, and skills.

Chosen from a pool of over 100 international candidates, two interns will join us at Civitella for the 2016 season.

Elinor Kirchwey, CR Intern 2016
Elinor: "Though I am native New Yorker currently completing an undergraduate degree in philosophy and politics at the University of Edinburgh, I spent my adolescence in Rome and my life is deeply rooted in Italy. As an avid cook, artist, student, and friend, I look forward to nourishing my own creative and academic interests this summer, while at the same time contributing my personal experiences and abilities to the Civitella community as a whole."

Angelica Haas, CR Intern 2016
Angelica: "The road to my degree in Italian and Political Science (via Syracuse University and the University of Florence) was marked by joyous arrivals to, and bittersweet departures from Italy. It was colored with the miles I travelled in-between as I acquainted myself with the language, landscape, culture and people of Italy. This path of discovery has led me now to Civitella, and I am thrilled to find my place in Umbria.  Being immersed in this experience will mean learning new skills, trying new foods, and being surrounded by interesting people. I look forward to assisting the Fellows delve into the creative process as they draw inspiration from a place that means so much to me."
