Composer, performer, author, and activist Fred Ho (CRF 2001) died at his home in Brooklyn on Saturday, April 12 after a seven-year battle with cancer; he was 56 years old.
The Civitella community mourns the passing of one of its own. Fred was a powerful force for creative vision and social activism during his life. The New York Times published an obituary detailing his life and legacy the same day as his death.
His students and colleagues strive to keep his music and his mission alive through continued performances of his work. On April 23 at 7:30 pm, Ginny's Supper Club at the Red Rooster Harlem will present All the Colors of Life: A Celebration of Fred Ho, a tribute performance by Fred's Eco-Music Big Band.
