Trip to San Sepolcro and Monterchi

This past Tuesday, August 14th, the Fellows went on a field trip to nearby towns San Sepolcro and Monterchi. The group was led by Dana Prescott to see works by the 15th century painter Piero della Francesca located both in his birthplace and that of his mother. We studied five of his paintings including 'Resurrection of Christ', 'Madonna of the Misericordia', and ‘Pregnant Madonna.’ To bring the excursion to a close we read aloud several contemporary poems that were inspired by Piero della Francesca’s work.

Discussion in front of the Madonna of the Misericordia

Everyone squeezes together for a picture in front of a view of the Tuscan countryside.
