On Tuesday, May 29th, several Fellows went on an excursion to Tomaso Buzzi's "Ideal City," La Scarzuola. La Scarzuola was originally a Franciscan convent founded by Saint Francis in 1218. In 1956, Buzzi - a Milanese architect - acquired the convent and subsequently erected his own utopia right next to it. The resulting construction was a mystical cityscape that includes 7 theatres, a reconstruction of the Acropolis, and the Tower of Babel. Following the excursion, the group went to a popular local restaurant for "torta al testo," a Perugian specialty.
